Little Man 6 and 7 months old!

I’ve been so behind with posting. Once I got past the exhaustion of the first trimester I was hit hard with migraines in the second. It has definitely not been a sunshine and roses pregnancy. Add taking care of a 6 month old on top if it and I’m pooped. So my apologies for the lack of posts. I’m going to try to keep up with them more now. So you’ve got two posts in one here!

Just like last month’s post this one is extremely late. It’s been a rough couple of months. With still learning how to be a new mom and being newly pregnant there isn’t much time left in the day for posting. So things are gonna be a little slim for awhile. I’m almost in my second trimester and I’m hoping with that will come some energy!

This was a busy one! Finding out we’re pregnant was a huge shock! A very welcomed shock but it was a little hard to adjust to at first. I’m grateful that Isaiah will have a close sibling and learn to how to be a big brother early on. They will most likely be exactly a year apart. Isaiah’s birthday is June 3rd and I’m due June 5th! We seriously couldn’t be happier but I’m defintiely anxious about handling two in diapers… This Irish Twins thing isn’t gonna be easy!

Isaiah is just growing like a weed. He outgrows a brand new outfit every week! He is so busy learning that it seems he’s constantly moving to the next thing. He loves to watch his fingers move and touch things. He follows us wherever we go and loves to pick up toys and jam them into his mouth. It’s been a fun and busy month!

Little Man, 4 months old!

 4 months!

  • Eats 6 oz every 3 hours
  • Takes a loooong 2 hour nap in the morning
  • Still sleeping beautifully through the night
  • In 3-6 month clothes
  • Not so fond of the bouncer anymore
  • LOVES to spit and blow spit bubbles
  • No teeth yet but knawing on everything
  • Weighing in at 14 lbs and 24 inches long
  • Thumb sucker!!
  • Really into Daddy these days
  • Loves to watch people eat and chew

This post is laaaate. I also missed two weekly pictures, this month has just been too busy! So at least I’m getting to it now! IJ (nicknamed by his Uncle Jeremy) has really grown this last month! He’s made huge strides in development and seems to have a new trick everyday! He’s a different baby from the baby I knew last month. He’s just a few weeks away from sitting up. He can hold his head up perfectly and likes it so much that if you lay him flat he’ll pitch a large fit. So he’s happy in the bumbo or exersaucer but not really to happy in the bouncer anymore.

He’s getting harder to entertain. He knows when I leave the room and doesn’t appreciate it when I do. He gets bored really easy so I keep rotating toys and such to try to help keep him happy. He hates tummy time and it’s a major chore to do because he just burries his head in the ground and screams. He can roll from back to tummy but not from tummy to back yet. He’ll chew on any finger near him and possibly his own toes when he can grab them. Which is becoming more difficult because of all his rolls! He’s finally getting chunky! He’s got big lovely rolls all up his thighs.

Now of course he loves me but lately he’s really into his Daddy. When he comes home from work he gets the biggest smile across his face and kicks like crazy. He looooves some daddy time. Chris gets smiles out of him that I just can’t get. Oh and I don’t want to forget his red bird. This toy goes EVERYWHERE. This little red bird means the world to  little IJ. He loves to chew on his beak and giggles at him all day.

We’re coming up on big accomplishments, like sitting up and first teeth. It’s going to be an exciting month! This month has been exhausting and he’s definitely been growing because he was a cranky mister most of this last month! I’m hoping this next month will be less cranky and more giggling. We’re a third of the way through his first year! Times a flying!

Little Man, 3 months old!

3 months!

  • Still eating 5 oz every 2.5-3 hours
  • Sleeping 8-10 hours at night
  • In 3 month clothes
  • Loves the bouncer
  • Chatty chatty chatty
  • Starting to giggle (and it’s really silly and woody the woodpecker sounding)
  • TEETHING (and drooling everywhere)
  • My guess is 12 pounds
  • Likes to “sing” with Mommy
  • Incredibly laid back and content
  • Only manages to poop on Mom (and thinks it’s hilarious)
  • Prefers to sleep on his side with his hands covering his face

If I felt like last month went by quickly then this month just snuck right past me. Life is BUSIER than ever. I know that it will only get crazier when this guy becomes mobile. I’m so grateful he’s stuck wherever I am… for now! Chris has recently decided to go back to school which we couldn’t be happier about, but the missing him part is awful. He’s going back to his EMT roots because that’s where he belongs. I’m so glad he figured this out young so we can get it out of the way and have him in a job he enjoys! So while I’m totally elated he’s back in the medical world we miss him terribly. He’s still working at DCI and going to school on the weekends AND djing weddings usually on Saturday nights. Needless to say we’re tired and lacking family time. I’m trying to remind myself that this is temporary and he won’t be in school forever!

Even though Daddy has to be away at least I have an incredibly content child on my hands. Since he was born everyone kept telling us just wait 48 hours, or 2 weeks, or 1 month, and then he’ll show his true colors. Well from day one he has been laid back and happy. I’ve been spoiled rotten with how happy he is. So much so that when he does fuss I have very little patience with it because I’m not used to it at all. If he cries for more than 1 minute I’m ready to pull my hair out. And that’s gotta stop. I know the next one won’t be this good.

This month has been so fun. He is just amazing. He’s doing so many things now. He’s giggling and smiling all day long. He reminds me constantly of the little things in life. Everything is amazing to him, it’s just awesome. He can roll from back to belly and a couple times rolled from belly to back but not too often. Instead of crying when he wakes up in the morning he chatters at the mobile and gives me the sweetest gummy grin with glazed over sleepy eyes. I think that’s one of the things I’ll miss most when he’s big.

I feel it’s a bit early for teething but he is! All month he’s been a drooling mess and chewing on everything. Apparently early teething runs in his bio family. I can’t wait for teeth to come through because he’s pretty unhappy about that at the moment. He can’t get enough of his or our fingers in his mouth all the time. Luckily Sophie came to town just in time to help with the teething!

I can’t believe it’s been 3 months since this little guy came into our lives. It’s happening at lightening speed and I’ve never been such a sap. Ask my husband, I’m practically the opposite of a sap. But since he’s been born I’ve become the ultimate softy. Songs I used to make fun of for being cheesy have me thinking about dancing with him at his wedding when his head is far above mine. This Mom thing ain’t for the faint of heart. And I’m only 3 months in.

Two Months

This last month feels more like a few months! It’s been busy busy and I have never cherished weekends so much as I do now. The weekends are full of family time and HELP! It’s lovely to have Chris home to ease my work load a bit! And most Saturday’s I get to sleep in! I’ve accomplished a few Sunday mornings without Chris around. Which was extremely challenging at first but we always make it there! We also finally got Isaiah’s pictures done! (shown below with his proud big sisters)

We tackled the nursery and got it finished! Yay! He’s so happy to have all of his things in one place. And by him I mean me. I’m really happy with how it turned out and he really enjoys spending time staring at the mobile we lovingly made for him (thank you very much Pinterest). A few weeks ago I started putting him down for naps in the nursery and he was very content to be in there so I decided he’d sleep well in there at night also! That first night he cried like a baby, oh wait that was me, he was fast asleep in 2 minutes. Seriously this kid is an awesome sleeper.

Our daytime routine is established and wonderful. He really enjoys being on a schedule, and again by him I mean me. He eats every three hours. And in between he loves to talk to the birdies on his playmat or chit chat in the boppy or bouncer. After he plays he goes down for a nap usually 1 1/2 hours sometimes 2 if he’s really sleepy. He gets  bedtime ready and eats at 7:30-8:00 and then goes to sleep. At 10:30 he sleep eats a full bottle and sleeps until 7:30 am!

He has grown so much this month I can’t believe how big he is! On top of all of his accomplishments this month he finally got to meet his Auntie Jess! Auntie Jess lives in Italy and was dying to meet him the minute he was born! It was a loooong 2 months waiting for her! We welcomed her home at the airport with a sign and all! The last 2 weeks he hasn’t gone a day without snuggling with her. They are total BFF’s. We’re really going to miss Auntie Jess when she goes home this week :(

We’re really enjoying watching him grow and learn. He’s such a beautiful blessing. We love you sweet sunshine!

Here’s a couple smiles we managed to catch on camera :)

First night at home

One Month Old!

This has been the busiest but happiest month of our lives. It’s been chalk full of emotions and adjustments but even through the sleepiness and the chaos we can’t imagine life without our little Isaiah. On March 21st I got a message that changed my life forever. A message saying there was a woman needing to find a family for her son. We decided on it in 3 days. We were told we had three months. And before we could even blink he was here. We didn’t have the usual 9 months to prepare for him so while his nursery is yet to be finished he is so loved. I can honestly say that this is the most exhausting but honorable job out there.

Every night around 10:30 I get him lotioned and jammied with a full belly and all five of us (us and the dogs) pile onto our bed. This is my favorite part of the day. It’s my favorite because it’s quiet and relaxed. Whatever got done got done and whatever didn’t will wait till tomorrow. We’re snuggled up with him in between us, listening to his sweet baby noises. It’s a great time to reflect. Bedtime reflecting. I hope we keep this tradition for a long time.

This was the bed that we starting praying for a baby. This is the bed that I lied awake in wondering if we’d ever be parents. And the same bed that held us as I cried for what seemed like a lifetime, begging for a child to love. And now here we are with a little munchkin snuggled between Chris and I thanking God for granting us what we asked. I could lay there forever just staring into those big gorgeous eyes. He knows he’s ours, and it’s amazing.

It’s been one month and no matter how tired I am, I’m ready for many many more!! Happy one month birthday baby boy. We are so grateful that God chose us to be your Mommy and Daddy. We love you so much!

God is so good, all the time. And oh how He has blessed our lives with Isaiah.

 -The Torres 3

2 weeks old!

It’s hard to believe that this little man has been in our lives for over 2 weeks now! We celebrated Isaiah’s 2 week birthday on Chris’ first Father’s Day on Sunday! We have been through the toughest part of our adoption journey and it has absolutely brought us closer together as a couple and really affirmed our faith in God. We had such a special  and unique experience from his birth and then watching his birth parents sign their rights over and entrust him to us. We are so incredibly grateful that they chose us to be Isaiah’s family. Every morning I sleepily look at him and think to myself “I can’t believe he’s mine!” I am so blessed to be his mother. It has been the most emotionally grueling few weeks of my life and God has been gracious in getting us through it. The adoption won’t be finalized for another month or so but he is ours and we couldn’t be happier. It feels like he’s been apart of our lives forever. I wouldn’t know life without him.

At 2 weeks he’s gained almost a pound and is past his birth weight at 7.5 lbs! He also grew half an inch and really eats like a champ. As of last night he slept 6 hours straight! That’s the longest he’s ever slept, and it was glorious. He’s extremely laid back and easy going. He hardly ever fusses and when he cries it’s when he’s really ticked off or hungry and it lasts maybe a minute. He has more alert times during the day where he loves to look at the living room curtains and turns to find me when I talk to him. We’re tired but happy. He’s a joy and I’m loving my new job as Mom.
